A New Source of Opportunity & Support

The Georges Mora Foundation is a not-for-profit cultural foundation dedicated to the support and promotion of contemporary art and artists in Melbourne and Australia

Named in honour of Georges Mora, and with Dame Elisabeth Murdoch as Patron, the Foundation’s principal aims are:

The Foundation supports artists who are igniting courage and new thinking in art through two key activities:

1] The Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship

Awarded by a Foundation panel to an artist of repute, to provide funds and access to resources for that artist to explore new thinking and research new ideas. The annual Fellowship is not prescriptive in terms of theme or subject matter but requires evidence of outcome

2] 'Art Out Loud’

A provocative program of events that enables artists from Australia or overseas to articulate the broader issues and themes underlying art. An installation or exhibition and a cross-disciplinary forum may accompany the event. This provides an opportunity for the artist’s ideas to challenge and be challenged in the wider cultural discourse of our community

In 2004, the Foundation was registered with the Register of Cultural Organisations and was granted tax-deductibility status. In May, 2006, the Foundation was officially launched by Baillieu Myer with our Patron, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch
